Una/Kangra, May 10: Amid escalating military tensions between India and Pakistan, debris believed to be parts of missiles and a drone have been discovered in multiple locations across Himachal Pradesh, raising security concerns near the revered Chintpurni temple in Una district.

On May 10, officials confirmed the discovery of a suspicious metallic object in Behad village, around 10 kilometres from the Chintpurni temple. The object, believed to be part of a missile, was spotted by residents following a loud explosion heard at around 1:30 am during a power outage in the area. The village lies near the Punjab border, which stretches over 500 km and shares proximity with Pakistan.
“Preliminary investigation suggests the object is inactive, but a team of experts is conducting a detailed examination,” stated the Una district administration.

Authorities believe the object may be part of a defused rocket, potentially linked to Pakistan’s reported failed strike attempts in northern India on Friday night. Fortunately, no injuries or property damage have been reported.
In Kangra district’s Indora region, police reported the discovery of two additional suspicious objects — one resembling the remains of a drone in Damtal village near Pathankot, and the other believed to be missile debris in Jota village.
Security forces swiftly cordoned off all affected areas, and local authorities have urged residents to avoid touching or approaching unidentified objects. Vigilance has been heightened across the region.
Meanwhile, residents of Hamirpur district were alarmed by the sound of military aircraft flying overhead around 2 am on Saturday. Although no damage occurred, the psychological impact led many to switch off lights as a precaution.

Hamirpur Deputy Commissioner Amarjeet Singh directed all departments to remain on high alert and warned against misinformation. “People should refrain from spreading rumours or AI-generated fake content on social media,” he said.
The unsettling discoveries come in the wake of Operation Sindoor, a retaliatory strike launched by Indian forces earlier this week targeting terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, following a deadly attack in Pahalgam that claimed 26 lives.
Authorities continue to appeal for public cooperation and awareness amid the rising tensions and military activity in the border regions.
