Jammu: Barely a day after India launched ‘Operation Sindoor’ targeting terror infrastructure across the border, Pakistan has responded with intense shelling along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir.
Starting Tuesday night and continuing into early Wednesday, Pakistani forces opened unprovoked fire using small arms and heavy artillery across multiple sectors — including Kupwara, Baramulla, Uri, and Akhnoor. The attacks left at least 13 people dead and dozens injured, with towns along the LoC shaken by the heaviest shelling witnessed in years.
Local residents described the barrage as “relentless and terrifying”, with some areas facing near-constant bombardment.
According to Indian Army officials, “The Indian Army responded proportionately,” underscoring that any aggression will be met with equal resolve.
This spike in hostilities came hours after India officially confirmed precision strikes on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) under Operation Sindoor, sending a strong message against cross-border terrorism.
As shelling continued into Wednesday night, Indian forces maintained a firm stance: “We are responding in equal measure.” (With Inputs PTI)
