J-K Shuts All Schools, Colleges on May 9-10 Amid Border Tensions

All schools, colleges & universities in J&K will remain closed on May 9-10 due to rising tensions with Pakistan after drone attacks. Govt urges caution; security tightened across the region.

Jammu, May 8: All schools, colleges, and universities across Jammu and Kashmir will remain closed on May 9 and 10 as a precautionary measure amid rising tensions along the India-Pakistan border.

The announcement was made by the Minister of School and Higher Education, who also handles Health and Social Welfare, through a post on X (formerly Twitter). The move follows a series of drone and missile attacks reportedly launched by Pakistan targeting military stations in Jammu, Pathankot, and Udhampur.

While no casualties have been reported and the Indian Armed Forces successfully neutralized the threats, authorities are not taking any chances. “The safety of our students and citizens comes first,” the minister said, urging people to stay indoors and avoid unnecessary travel.

Security across sensitive areas has been tightened, and emergency services are on alert. Parents have been asked to stay in touch with school administrations for further updates.

The situation remains tense, and officials are closely monitoring developments on the ground.
