New Delhi: On Friday, May 9, 2025, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh convened a high-level meeting in New Delhi to assess the prevailing national security situation. The meeting was attended by Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh, and Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh Tripathi.
This strategic discussion followed closely on the heels of heightened tensions with Pakistan, particularly after India’s launch of ‘Operation Sindoor’ on May 7, targeting terrorist bases in Pakistan in response to the Pahalgam attack. Subsequently, Pakistan attempted retaliatory strikes on Indian military installations in Jammu, Pathankot, and Udhampur, which were effectively thwarted by Indian forces.
During the meeting, Minister Singh and the military chiefs conducted a comprehensive review of the evolving security landscape, focusing on India’s preparedness to address any further escalations. The discussions encompassed strategic responses to potential threats and the reinforcement of defense mechanisms across sensitive regions.
In light of these developments, security measures have been significantly enhanced at key defense installations, including those in Odisha, to ensure readiness against any unforeseen contingencies.
The Defence Minister emphasized the government’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding national sovereignty and maintaining peace, asserting that any acts of aggression will be met with decisive action.
This meeting underscores India’s proactive approach to national security amid escalating regional tensions.
