JAMMU, AUGUST 11: The Border Security Force (BSF) on Monday evening foiled an intrusion bid along the International Border (IB) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district, officials said. A Pakistani national involved in the attempt died after being shot by troops.
According to a BSF spokesperson, alert troops observed suspicious movement and saw the individual crossing the IB into Indian territory. He then began moving aggressively towards the border fence.
Officials stated that the intruder was repeatedly challenged and warned to stop by the BSF patrol. He paid no heed to the warnings and continued his aggressive approach.
”Sensing a threat from the continuous aggressive movement, the troops opened fire, foiling the intrusion attempt,” the official statement read.
The individual was injured in the firing and taken into custody. He was evacuated to a nearby hospital for treatment but later succumbed to his injuries. The BSF has lodged a strong protest with its counterparts, the Pakistan Rangers, regarding the incident.
